Scott County, Missouri investigates roadside death near Sikeston

On the morning of July 25, 2024, a person was found dead on County Highway 529 near Sikeston, Missouri. At about 6:24 a.m., deputies, EMS and fire crews from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded, confirmed the individual was deceased and the Scott County Coroner took custody of the body.

The sheriff’s office has activated its Major Case Squad to lead the investigation. The victim’s identity has not been released. Investigators have spoken with several local residents and are asking anyone who was traveling on or near Highway 529 during the early hours of Saturday to provide information by calling (573) 545‑3525 or submitting an anonymous tip online.
