Scott Ian discusses AC/DC's Bon Scott era influence

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has shared details regarding his long-standing admiration for AC/DC during the Bon Scott era. Ian recounted his first encounter with the band's music in 1978, when he heard the track “Rock ‘N’ Roll Damnation” from the album “Powerage” while at a junior high school in Queens, New York.

Ian described the experience as a musical epiphany, noting that Scott's unique, gritty, and melodic vocal style immediately captured his attention. He compared the singer's voice to that of a pirate, noting its distinct energy and authenticity.

Beyond the musical impact, Ian expressed regret over missing the band's “Highway to Hell” tour performance at the Palladium in New York due to a lack of funds at the time, assuming the group would return to the city soon.
