Scott Ian recounts Dave Mustaine’s dismissal from Metallica

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian recently shared recollections regarding the day Dave Mustaine was dismissed from Metallica. During an appearance on the podcast ‘The Magnificent Others’, Ian described how he learned of the decision from bassist Cliff Burton.

Ian noted that while he initially thought the news was a joke, Lars Ulrich confirmed that Mustaine had been let go. According to Ian, the band had been discussing the possibility of removing Mustaine since arriving in New York. The guitarist also expressed relief that the dismissal did not lead to the cancellation of scheduled shows that Anthrax was set to perform alongside Metallica.
