Scott LoBaido continues protest against Mayor Mamdani after near-fatal heart attack

Conservative activist and artist Scott LoBaido is continuing his political campaign against New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani despite a recent near-fatal heart attack. LoBaido reportedly suffered ventricular fibrillation and was clinically dead for two minutes following a confrontation with the mayor at a pro-police event.

LoBaido's protest centers on opposing Mayor Mamdani's plan to attend the 25th anniversary memorial ceremony for the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks at Ground Zero. While recovering at home on Staten Island, LoBaido arranged for a plane to fly over Manhattan carrying a banner that read, “Mamdandi [sic], stay away from Ground Zero.”

Mamdani, a Democratic socialist, had previously addressed the crowd during the NYPD's National Night Out Against Crime, stating, “Thank you to my brother, Scott LoBaido, a great artist, but we disagree on politics.” The mayor has maintained his intention to attend the anniversary ceremony despite opposition from various 9/11 victims' families.
