Scott Pendlebury to join Gold Coast Suns on four-year deal

AFL veteran Scott Pendlebury is set to join the Gold Coast Suns on a four-year contract, marking a significant departure from Collingwood. The deal includes two years as a player and two years as a coach, providing a transition for the 442-game record holder as he approaches age 40.

Reports indicate that Pendlebury may have stayed at Collingwood for an additional year if a contract had been offered, but no offer was forthcoming from the club. This lack of an offer has reportedly caused disappointment for the player.

Former Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has supported the move, stating it is a strategic step that will leave Pendlebury “super ready” for his future career aspirations. Collingwood management is currently discussing plans to honor Pendlebury at a home game early next season and at the club’s best-and-fairest function.
