Scott Wheeler of The Athletic has released preseason rankings for NHL draft prospects, highlighting several players across different developmental stages.

In the 2027 NHL Draft cycle, OHL players received significant recognition. Dima Zhilkin of the Saginaw Spirit was ranked 7th, noted for his playmaking and competitive nature. Timothy Kazda of the Guelph Storm was also recognized following an MVP performance at the U18 World Championship.

Regarding current league prospects, New York Islanders right wing Victor Eklund was ranked 43rd on Wheeler’s list of top 100 drafted prospects. Eklund, noted for his high hockey IQ, is preparing for his first full professional season in North America after making his NHL debut last April.
