Scottish Borders Council reviews future of closed Galashiels nursery

The future of Glendinning Terrace Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) in Galashiels is under review following its emergency closure in April 2025 due to serious health and safety concerns.

Scottish Borders Council has launched a survey and scheduled two in-person drop-in sessions at Glendinning Primary School on September 30 and October 1 to gather community feedback. The council noted that a feasibility study regarding reopening the facility for the 2026-27 session raised further issues, leading to the continued suspension of services.

As a result of the closure, Glendinning Primary School will lack ELC provision for the 2025-26 academic year. The council is working with parents to arrange alternative placements while evaluating the long-term demand for the setting.
