Scottish Conservative leader slams SNP independence push
Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay has criticized the Scottish National Party’s pursuit of independence, labeling the movement ‘dangerously irresponsible’ given current global volatility. Speaking at the Conservative Party’s UK conference in Birmingham, Findlay argued that a divided United Kingdom would serve the interests of hostile regimes, specifically citing threats from Russia, China, and Iran.
Findlay also condemned First Minister John Swinney for a recent summit in Cardiff with Sinn Féin, describing the alliance as a ‘disgrace’ and a threat to the integrity of the UK. He further criticized Swinney’s stance on national security issues, including support for a proposed Chinese wind turbine factory in the Highlands.
Additionally, the Scottish Conservative leader announced plans for a Benefit Fraud Bill aimed at addressing issues within the social security system and recovering overpayments.
