Scottish Fire and Rescue Service announces new station and training projects

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is advancing its infrastructure through new construction and training projects. Morgan Sindall Construction has been appointed to a £10 million project to demolish and rebuild the Liberton Community Fire Station in Edinburgh. This marks the city’s first new-build fire station in over 30 years and is part of a wider five-year program to address facilities affected by reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC).

Additionally, a new £3 million SFRS training centre has opened in Perth, delivered by Robertson Facilities Management. The facility features a compartment fire behaviour training (CFBT) unit designed to capture and filter smoke to minimize environmental impact. It also includes a contaminants control unit (CCU) to reduce firefighter exposure to harmful substances and promote personnel wellbeing.
