Scottish food and drink sector aims for £30 billion valuation by 2030

The Scotland Food & Drink Industry Conference is scheduled to take place on 3 March 2027 at the P&J Live arena in Aberdeen. The event will bring together over 250 Scottish food and drink business leaders with major retail buyers from companies including Aldi, Sainsbury’s, and ASDA.

Currently valued at a record £19 billion, the Scottish food and drink sector aims to reach a valuation of £30 billion by 2030. The conference will focus on growth topics such as accessing new markets, increasing shelf space for Scottish products, net zero initiatives, and succession planning.

Research from The Knowledge Bank indicates strong consumer interest in Scottish provenance. Approximately 51% of Scots value ‘made in Scotland’ provenance, while 87% expressed a desire to purchase more locally produced food and drink. Additionally, 56% of people in the UK outside of Scotland reported a desire to see more Scottish products available in grocery stores.
