Scottish football season opens with wins for Stirling clubs in men’s and women’s leagues

The Scottish Women’s Football grassroots season began with a series of high‑scoring victories for new entrants to the Barclays leagues. Stirling University defeated Ayr United 2‑1, while East Fife recorded a 6‑0 win over Morton. Other newcomers such as Elgin City, Dunipace, Bishopton and Edinburgh South also posted convincing wins, and several matches in the Regional SWFL saw dominant scorelines.

In the men’s game, Stirling Albion secured a 2‑0 opening‑day victory over Dumbarton in League Two, with striker Jordan Allan scoring both goals. The win gave manager Steven Whittaker a positive start to the campaign and highlighted the club’s effective summer sign‑on strategy.
