Scottish library services shortlisted for national SLIC Awards

The Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) Awards 2026 have announced a shortlist of teams and projects recognized for their impact on communities across Scotland.

Midlothian Library Service has been named a nominee in the Team of the Year category. The service is being recognized for its role as a community hub, specifically through its work in literacy programs, digital inclusion, and providing assistance to those facing cost-of-living pressures.

The National Library of Scotland has been shortlisted for the Project Excellence Award for its ‘Experiences of Rain’ project. This intercultural initiative involved co-creators with lived experience of migration to explore rain as a shared cultural heritage, resulting in a sound installation and exhibition that attracted over 28,000 visitors.

Other nominees include Glasgow Life’s Libraries Development Team and the University of Glasgow’s Library and Information Studies MSc Team. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 6 in Stirling.
