Scottish Rugby fires CEO Alex Williamson after investigation
The board of Scottish Rugby has dismissed chief executive Alex Williamson with immediate effect, following the conclusion of an independent investigation that found his conduct fell significantly below the organisation's standards. Chairman John McGuigan said the findings led to the decision and that the governing body will now begin a urgent search for a permanent replacement.
Chief financial officer David White has been appointed interim chief executive while the recruitment process proceeds. Williamson, who previously held senior roles at The Goodwood Group and House of Fraser before joining Scottish Rugby, had been on extended leave earlier in the year. The dismissal comes as the organisation prepares for upcoming international fixtures, including the Nations Championship and the Six Nations.
