Scottish youth organizations receive £989,202 in Young Start funding

Ten projects across Scotland are receiving a share of £989,202 in Young Start funding to support individuals aged eight to 24. The initiative aims to address social isolation, encourage sustainable living, and reduce antisocial behavior through community connection and confidence-building experiences.

Funded by the Dormant Assets Scheme, the grants are released by the Reclaim Fund and delivered by The National Lottery Community Fund, with priorities established by the Scottish Government. Beneficiaries include the Girvan Youth Trust in South Ayrshire, which received £137,979 to extend its Streetlight Detached Youthwork project for three years, providing support to at-risk young people.

Other recipients include the Golspie Youth Action Project in the Highlands and Bright Green Nature in the Scottish Borders. These organizations will utilize the funds to promote social inclusion, enterprise in rural areas, and engagement with local nature conservation efforts.
