ScottishPower and TagEnergy secure record onshore wind contracts and approvals in Scotland
ScottishPower has awarded contracts worth a record £102.9 million for the operation and maintenance of 24 onshore wind farms across Scotland, the outskirts of London and Northern Ireland. The contracts are part of the company’s wider £24 billion plan through 2028, which includes a £1 billion spend on its UK supply chain and a project to double the capacity of the Whitelee wind farm to over 1 GW.
TagEnergy, a global clean‑energy firm, received planning permission for two new Scottish wind farms: the 54 MW, nine‑turbine Sclenteuch Wind Farm in Ayrshire and the 21.5 MW, five‑turbine Cairnmore Hill Wind Farm in Caithness. Together they will add 75 MW of capacity, enough to power roughly 78,000 homes. The projects are expected to bring about £9.6 million and £1.4 million of local investment respectively, with substantial business‑rate contributions to local councils over their lifetimes.
