Scout Day commemorations in Indonesia focus on character and food security
The 65th Scout Day commemorations in Indonesia have highlighted the role of the Scout Movement (Gerakan Pramuka) in fostering character development and supporting national food self-sufficiency.
In Cilegon, Vice Mayor Fajar Hadi Prabowo emphasized that this year's theme, “Creating, Innovating, Skilled, and Independent to Support Food Self-Sufficiency,” aligns with the Indonesian government's goals for national resilience in food, energy, and water. He urged young scouts to cultivate discipline, productivity, and an interest in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, and fisheries to ensure future food security.
In Barito Utara, regional legislator Ardianto praised the Scout Movement as a strategic platform for instilling discipline, nationalism, and mutual cooperation in the younger generation. He noted that the movement serves as a vital defense against negative global influences and expressed the local legislature's continued support for youth development programs and scouting activities.
