Scout24 shares fall amid fears of AI disruption
Scout24 shares fell by 1.6 percent to 69.65 euros on Thursday, hitting a two-month low following market concerns regarding the impact of artificial intelligence on the classified ads business model.
Analysts from Bank of America noted that advancements in Meta’s AI platform, Muse, have intensified skepticism within the sector. There is growing fear that AI-powered consumer agents could eventually handle searching, comparing, and brokering transactions directly. This shift threatens to turn traditional platforms like Scout24 into mere background data sources rather than primary user interfaces, potentially undermining business models reliant on high traffic and visibility.
Additionally, JPMorgan expressed caution, suggesting that classified ad providers may face significant pressure on margins due to the heavy investments required to keep pace with AI developments.
