Scoutvo analysis reveals varying levels of Chinese sellers on Amazon.de

An analysis by Scoutvo, a tool from Tectonix LLC, reveals that the prevalence of Chinese sellers on Amazon.de varies significantly depending on the product category. The study utilized legally required seller identification data rather than estimating origin based on brand names or shipping locations.

In one household appliance niche, 56 percent of Buy Box providers were based in China, while an additional 13 percent appeared to be German companies but showed links to Shenzhen. Conversely, in the air fryer category, 60 percent of classified providers were established manufacturers from the US, UK, and DACH region, with only 18 percent originating from China.

The report highlights that many common methods for determining seller origin are unreliable, as German-sounding brand names are often used as a cover and Amazon fulfillment services do not indicate the seller's actual location.
