Screenrights announces $293k for storytelling and screen initiatives

Screenrights has announced $293,400 in funding for six storytelling and screen education projects through its 2026 Cultural Fund. The initiative, themed ‘Learning Through Story’, supports projects across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

In Australia, three specific projects will receive funding to promote First Nations and disability inclusion. Young Yarnz will receive $50,000 to develop a digital learning platform featuring First Nations knowledge holders for classroom use. Studio Gilay has been awarded $50,000 for ‘Animation as Living Story’, an online module series aimed at increasing Indigenous representation in the animation industry. Additionally, Brock Casting Services will receive $49,400 for ‘Lights On’, a training initiative designed to create screen industry pathways for disabled creatives by removing structural barriers.
