ScreenX expands to Australia, New Zealand and Philippines

HOYTS Cinemas announced a major rollout of the SCREENX immersive cinema format in Australia and New Zealand, adding 12 new auditoriums to its network. The first of the new venues will open at HOYTS Broadway for the release of *Spider‑Man: Brand New Day*, and the expansion will bring HOYTS’s total SCREENX screens to 14 by 2028 under its partnership with CJ 4DPLEX.

The SCREENX format, which projects a 270‑degree view onto side walls, has also launched in the Philippines at the SM Mall of Asia. The technology, developed by CJ 4DPLEX, offers a panoramic experience distinct from IMAX, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and 4DX, and does not require special glasses. It expands the picture onto three walls, creating an immersive environment for selected films.

Both announcements highlight the growing demand for premium, wide‑angle cinema experiences across the ANZ region and the Philippines, marking the largest SCREENX deployment by any chain in Australia and New Zealand and the first installation in the Philippines.
