Scrooged receives 4K Blu-ray release for 35th anniversary

Paramount Home Media Distribution is releasing a 4K Blu-ray version of the 1988 holiday comedy Scrooged to celebrate its 35th anniversary. Directed by Richard Donner and starring Bill Murray, the film serves as a modern, irreverent take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

The new release features a fresh restoration of the film and includes over 50 minutes of previously unreleased bonus content. Notable additions include an audio commentary by director Richard Donner, which is appearing on disc for the first time, along with several behind-the-scenes featurettes exploring the production and visual effects.

During the original production, filming was reportedly interrupted due to an injury sustained by Bill Murray. Actor Carol Kane allegedly grabbed Murray’s lip with enough force to tear the tissue between his lip and gum, requiring time for him to recover.
