SCS Software releases version 1.61 for ATS and ETS 2

SCS Software has released version 1.61 for both American Truck Simulator (ATS) and Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS 2). The update introduces a proximity exploration mechanic designed to make map completion more intuitive by automatically revealing nearby routes and secret roads as players approach them.

Both titles receive visual improvements through an enhanced material system that provides more realistic lighting and reflections for surfaces such as leather, plastic, and metal. In ATS, this upgrade specifically affects the International LT and International LoneStar truck models, while ETS 2 sees improvements for various Volvo FH Series models.

The updates also serve as preparation for upcoming major content releases. ATS includes new freight options like seed containers and trusses, alongside map adjustments for the future Road Trip mode. ETS 2 features overhauled livestock trailers and map updates to bus stations in locations such as Karlstad, Aarhus, Thessaloniki, and Heraklion in anticipation of the upcoming Coaches mode.
