Sculptor creates Alexander the Great monument from 50,000 waste pieces

Sculptor Mervan Altınorak has completed a massive sculpture of Alexander the Great and his legendary horse, Bucephalus, using 50,000 pieces of recycled metal and electronic waste. The artwork, which weighs 2.5 tons, was created over an eight-month period using industrial scraps, spark plugs, springs, and decommissioned machine parts.

The monument stands 3.3 meters high and 3.6 meters wide. Altınorak stated that he studied historical busts and sculptures in detail to ensure the facial features and proportions, including the size of the sword, were accurate. He also observed live horses to correctly capture the anatomy of Bucephalus.

The sculpture is prepared for exhibition in the Iskenderun district of Hatay, a region historically linked to Alexander the Great following the Battle of Issus in 333 BC.
