Sculptor Volkan Doğan exports custom clay sculptures globally
Erzurum-based sculptor Volkan Doğan is gaining international recognition for his custom clay sculptures and busts. Operating from his workshop in the Aziziye district, Doğan creates highly detailed works based on photographs or videos provided by clients.
His production process involves constructing a metal internal skeleton, which is then layered with clay and refined for proportion. Depending on workshop demand, a single piece typically takes between two and four months to complete. While his work includes large-scale monuments—such as a pandemic memorial and a saber-toothed tiger for Çankırı Municipality—a significant portion of his international business consists of personalized busts and figures.
Doğan has exported his works to numerous countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, the United States, Russia, Bulgaria, and Qatar. He noted that approximately 90 percent of his exports to Europe are custom personal sculptures requested by individuals to commemorate loved ones. His works are currently held in collections across Turkey and various international locations.
