Scuola di Comando Navale celebrates centenary in Augusta
A ceremony was held on September 10 at the Fourth Naval Division in Augusta to mark the centenary of the establishment of the Scuola di Comando Navale (Naval Command School). The event was attended by various military and civil authorities, including Rear Admiral Davide Da Pozzo, Director of the School, and Fleet Commander Admiral Aurelio De Carolis.
The Scuola di Comando Navale is described as a unique institution among NATO navies, responsible for training Italian Navy officers for ship command roles. The curriculum emphasizes vessel maneuvering, conduct, and professional ethics. The training program includes four five-week maneuvering sessions annually, involving approximately 300 navigation hours per session and roughly 50 maneuvers per participant for about 40 officers each year.
