Scuola Marmocchi to reopen following building safety inspections

Scuola Marmocchi in Poggibonsi is scheduled to reopen for classes on Monday, September 21, following safety inspections of the building. The delay in the school year was necessitated by the sudden detachment of plaster in a ground-floor storage and locker room used by auxiliary staff.

As a precaution, authorities conducted comprehensive structural assessments using thermographic, constructive, and sonic methods, as well as manual testing. The investigations concluded that there are no widespread structural issues. While certain limited areas of the building require repairs, these spaces will be cordoned off until restoration work is completed next week.

The reopening will follow the institute’s emergency plan and will occur in two phases to ensure student safety.
