Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna adds four funded PhD spots in space, cyber‑security and AI research

The Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa announced four additional PhD positions for the 2026‑27 academic year, each backed by a scholarship. Two of the scholarships are financed by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and two by the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN). The funded projects cover cutting‑edge topics such as wearable exoskeletons for microgravity, ISRU‑driven plasma propulsion for lunar and Martian missions, zero‑trust virtualization, and governance of artificial intelligence.

The new places join an existing pool of 58 PhD slots offered by the school, which are tuition‑free and open to Italian and international candidates. Applicants must pass a competitive admission contest, and successful scholars receive a year‑by‑year stipend, a six‑month research stay abroad, and full coverage of tuition fees. According to an AlmaLaurea report, 100 % of Sant'Anna PhD graduates find employment within a year of graduation.
