SDA denies SDP allegations of using AI for political propaganda

The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) has responded to allegations from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) regarding the misuse of artificial intelligence in political campaigning. The SDP had accused Bakir Izetbegović’s SDA of using AI to create fake statements attributed to Denis Bećirović, a candidate for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

SDA dismissed these claims, asserting that the controversial video circulating on social media is authentic. They stated that the footage, in which Bećirović remarks that the SDP is not a Bosniak party and that he would leave it if it were, originated from a real interview on the OBN television program ‘Telering’. SDA argued that the clip was not generated by AI, though they noted that Bećirović’s manner of speaking might make it sound as such.

Furthermore, SDA accused the SDP and Bećirović of employing similar propaganda tactics, including the use of edited clips, social media bots, and the purchase of social media pages to influence public opinion.
