Södertälje experiences historic political shift after 36 years

A significant political shift has occurred in Södertälje, Sweden, ending a 15-year era led by Boel Godner. Following municipal elections and several days of negotiations, five parties—the Moderates, Sweden Democrats, Christian Democrats, Realist Party, and Liberals—have formed a new coalition. This group holds 34 of the 65 seats in the municipal council, granting them a majority. Alexander Rosenberg, the Moderates' group leader, stated that the coalition aims to manage the responsibility given by voters to move the municipality forward.

Key areas of concern for the region include healthcare stability and infrastructure, specifically the railway. There are calls for increased state subsidies to support regional healthcare quality following recent budget constraints and service cuts at hospitals such as SUS in Malmö.
