SDP criticizes National Coalition Party pension savings plans
Social Democratic Party (SDP) Vice Chair Nasima Razmyar has criticized the National Coalition Party over its proposed pension and social service savings. The National Coalition Party aims to achieve 2 billion euros in savings from the pension system and 2 billion euros from social and health services during the next parliamentary term.
Razmyar characterized the proposals as unrealistic and accused the party of a lack of transparency regarding how these savings would be implemented. While Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has stated that current pension payments will not be cut and that solutions must be found through tripartite cooperation between the state, employers, and employees, Razmyar argues that the party's goals contradict its previous commitments to fiscal responsibility and debt brakes.
The SDP maintains that it trusts the tripartite model but does not trust the National Coalition Party to act as a predictable state partner that respects the interests of wage earners and labor market organizations.
