SDP criticizes Nezir Pivić over Željezara Zenica industrial crisis

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has issued a sharp response to Zenica-Doboj Canton Prime Minister Nezir Pivić regarding the crisis at the Željezara Zenica steelworks. The SDP accused Pivić and the SDA of hypocrisy, claiming that their decades of governance led to the decline of major industrial entities, including Željezara, Krivaja, and KTK Visoko.

According to the SDP, the party has taken concrete institutional steps to address the situation, such as proposing special legislation, requesting extraordinary administration, and offering two models to resolve the issue: the buyout of the majority owner's stake or direct financing and operational management to preserve jobs. The SDP noted that the majority owner rejected both proposals.

Furthermore, the SDP addressed claims regarding the right of first refusal, stating that the Federation Government was not offered Željezara Zenica in isolation, but rather a package including other connected companies and obligations. The party emphasized that the government cannot risk hundreds of millions of KM without independent assessments and full analysis.
