SDSM accuses Mickoski of hypocrisy over mining concessions

The SDSM political party has accused Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski of political hypocrisy regarding mining concessions. The party claims that while Mickoski was in opposition in 2023, he advocated for the cancellation of the Ilovica mine concession to protect citizens' health and the environment. However, SDSM argues that as the current leader, he is now supporting antimony mining under the guise of state interest and economic strategy.

SDSM further highlighted health concerns, noting that the IARC classifies toxic antimony as a Group 2A potential carcinogen that can affect the lungs and heart. The party criticized the government's handling of environmental and water safety issues, specifically mentioning a lack of reports regarding water safety in Gostivar and other regions.
