SDSM criticizes Mickoski government over rising fuel and food costs
The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) has criticized the government of Hristijan Mickoski, accusing it of failing to address a growing economic crisis affecting farmers and consumers.
During a press conference, SDSM Vice President Jovana Trenčevska reported that diesel prices have surpassed 100 denars per liter, marking a 43% increase over the past six months. This rise in fuel costs is expected to drive up the prices of food production, transport, and agricultural processing.
Trenčevska stated that the consumer basket has reached nearly 70,000 denars while wages remain stagnant. She further noted that farmers are currently protesting because the government has failed to deliver promised purchase prices for peppers. Additionally, she highlighted that agricultural subsidies are being delayed or reduced, threatening national food security.
