SDSM demands accountability over 5-ton marijuana seizure
The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) has issued a statement demanding answers regarding the movement of five tons of marijuana across the border from Macedonia through Tabanovce to Konjuh near Kruševac. The opposition party claims that despite the scale of the shipment, there has been no official accountability or naming of responsible parties.
SDSM contrasted the situation in Macedonia with actions taken in Serbia, where President Vučić reportedly dismissed 15 police officials following a seizure. The party criticized the Macedonian government for silence, questioning how the drugs bypassed the Safe City surveillance system, police, and customs.
Furthermore, SDSM highlighted the release of an individual named Sime, described as a member of VMRO-DPMNE with a criminal record, who was previously arrested with weapons, drugs, and large sums of money. The party alleges that the current administration is using media-focused seizures of much larger quantities to distract from the reality of organized crime networks operating near the border.
