SDSM demands resignation of Minister Toškovski over border scandal

The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) is demanding the resignation of Minister Panče Toškovski following allegations regarding the release of Iva Mihailova across the border. The opposition party claims that an agreement was reached behind the scenes with Bulgaria to allow Mihailova to pass through, characterizing the subsequent political reactions—such as summoning ambassadors and issuing warrants—as mere ‘theatre’ intended to deflect responsibility.

SDSM representatives argue that the government is attempting to shift blame onto other officials and media campaigns rather than addressing the failure of border control. They assert that Toškovski, as the minister overseeing the police and border services, must be held accountable for the security breach. The party further criticized the current administration for a perceived lack of accountability regarding other issues, including drug trafficking and judicial interference.
