SDSM proposes 600 euro minimum wage and healthcare salary hikes

SDSM President Venko Filipče has announced that the party will re-submit a proposal to the Assembly in early September to increase the minimum wage to 600 euros. He argued that the current minimum wage of 26,000 denars is insufficient to cover basic living costs, especially as electricity and heating prices rise.

Filipče also called for a 40 percent increase in the base salaries of specialists and doctors in the healthcare sector, as well as similar increases for education workers. He criticized the current government led by Hristijan Mickoski, claiming it has failed to deliver economic results or protect citizens from rising costs.

Additionally, Filipče warned that the second pension pillar is at risk, alleging that the government is considering accessing funds intended for citizens' future pensions. He noted that the current standard of living is declining due to high prices and stagnant wages.
