Sea and OpenAI launch AI hackathon for Indonesian developers

Sea and OpenAI have launched the Sea x OpenAI Regional Codex Hackathon Series in Indonesia. The initiative aims to encourage local technology developers to utilize artificial intelligence to address societal needs.

Registration for the event is open from September 14 until October 10, 2026. Participants must form teams of three to four people. From these applicants, 30 teams will be selected to participate in an in-person hackathon in Jakarta on November 7, 2026.

Participants will receive access to Codex, OpenAI’s AI-based programming agent, and mentorship from technology experts at both Sea and OpenAI. The competition focuses on three development areas: Autonomous & Adaptive AI, AI-Native Products & Operations, and Deep Domain AI. The top three teams will each receive $30,000 in OpenAI API credits.
