Sea and OpenAI to host Regional Codex Hackathon in Thailand

Sea and OpenAI are launching the Sea x OpenAI Regional Codex Hackathon Series in Bangkok, scheduled for November 21, 2026. This one-day event follows previous editions in Singapore and Taiwan, with plans to expand to Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia to engage developer communities across the Asia-Pacific region.

The initiative aims to provide developers, students, and startups with hands-on experience using Codex, OpenAI’s AI-powered coding solution, to build practical and responsible software. The event comes as Thailand shows significant AI engagement; OpenAI data indicates the country ranks among the top 20 globally for weekly active users of ChatGPT and Codex, with Codex usage in Thailand increasing more than 350 times since the start of the year.

Applications are open until October 23, 2026. Up to 40 teams of three to four members will be selected based on application quality to participate in the hackathon.
