Seabra City Hall ordered to establish kennel and zoonosis center
The Seabra City Hall in Bahia has been ordered by the Public Ministry of the State of Bahia (MP-BA) to implement emergency measures, including the creation of a kennel and a zoonosis control center (CCZ). This judicial mandate follows the city's failure to comply with a 2023 Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC).
The municipality has 30 days to present an implementation plan. Failure to comply may result in fines. The required obligations under the TAC include vaccination campaigns, responsible adoption programs, animal population identification, and ensuring veterinary treatment and food supply. The CCZ is tasked with monitoring and controlling diseases transmissible between animals and humans, such as rabies and leptospirosis, as well as combating disease vectors like the dengue mosquito.
