Seagate apartment building evacuation pending Ministry decision

The evacuation of the Seagate apartment building in the Germasogeia tourist area remains pending as the Limassol Building Inspection Organization (EOA Lemosou) prepares a report for the Minister of Interior. The building was declared dangerous following a tragic building collapse on April 11.

Giannis Tsouloftas, President of the Organization, stated that a report documenting the building's dangerous status is expected to be sent to the Minister by the end of August. The Minister will then decide whether the designation of the building as dangerous is justified. This step is necessary because the owner has filed a hierarchical appeal challenging the Organization's decision.

Tsouloftas noted that current legal tools are “ineffective and time-consuming,” citing complications such as the death of a property owner which requires additional legal procedures. He called for the advancement of pending legislation regarding dangerous buildings in the House of Representatives.
