SeAH Besteel begins mass production of specialized steel for robot reducers

SeAH Besteel has successfully developed and commenced mass production of specialized steel materials used for robot reducer components, specifically for the ‘flex spline’. This component is critical for transmitting motor power within a reducer, which functions similarly to a joint by controlling a robot's speed and precision.

By utilizing proprietary alloy design and vacuum refining processes, the company has minimized shape deformation during heat treatment and enhanced fatigue life to withstand repetitive movements. This development aims to reduce reliance on a limited number of foreign suppliers, such as those in Japan, for these essential materials.

SeAH Besteel began supplying these materials to the domestic precision reducer manufacturer SPG in February and has since entered the mass production stage. Moving forward, the company plans to expand its product lineup to include specialized steel grades for humanoid robots.
