SEAJust Network conference addresses transnational crime in Da Nang

The 2026 plenary conference of the Southeast Asian Justice Network (SEAJust) opened in Da Nang, bringing together representatives from 22 member nations and international partners to address increasingly complex transnational organized crime.

Organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in coordination with the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam, the event is supported by the Government of South Korea. Discussions focused on the rising sophistication of cross-border crimes, including high-tech crime, drug trafficking, money laundering, human trafficking, and fraud, often facilitated by digital transformation and scientific advancements.

Officials emphasized that no single nation can effectively combat these challenges alone. There is an urgent need for enhanced information sharing, coordinated investigations, and improved mutual legal assistance. Key areas for reform include the handling of electronic evidence, digital data, and the tracking and recovery of criminal assets and money flows.
