Sealdah Station food stall fire triggers panic in Kolkata

A fire broke out at a food stall within the Sealdah Station premises in Central Kolkata on Monday morning. The incident occurred around 9:20 a.m., a period when the station was heavily crowded with commuters traveling to workplaces.

The fire produced thick smoke that quickly spread across the station area, causing significant panic among thousands of passengers. While the intensity of the fire was managed, officials noted that the proximity of other shops containing flammable items could have led to a more serious situation.

Three fire tenders were deployed to the scene to control the blaze. No casualties or injuries have been reported. Fire service officials expressed concerns regarding whether the affected stall had met minimum fire safety requirements and adequate water supply arrangements.
