SEALSQ launches commercial microwave‑optical quantum link with Miraex
SEALSQ Corp completed a 100 % acquisition of Swiss photonics company Miraex SA on 2 June 2026, financing the deal through its dedicated $200 million Quantum Fund, which has already deployed over $65 million in strategic quantum investments. Miraex, based at the EPFL Innovation Park in Ecublens, Switzerland, provides a proprietary thin‑film lithium‑tantalate photonic integrated circuit that converts quantum information between microwave and optical frequencies, a key step toward scalable quantum computing and networking.
The company announced the start of commercial operations for this microwave‑to‑optical link, targeting four market segments: distributed quantum computing, quantum networking, quantum sensing, and a “Quantum Orbital Space Cloud” for secure satellite and space‑based quantum communications. Following the announcement, SEALSQ shares fell about 0.85 % to $2.34. The rollout is part of SEALSQ’s broader sovereign quantum stack, which aims to integrate secure semiconductors, post‑quantum cryptography, networking, computing and space communications for governments, defense, cloud and telecom operators worldwide.
