Sean Connery legacy honored on birthday anniversary

The world commemorates the legacy of Scottish actor Sir Sean Connery, who would have celebrated his 96th birthday on August 25. Born in Edinburgh in 1930, Connery rose from a modest working-class background to become a global cinematic icon.

He is most famously recognized as the first actor to portray the MI5 agent James Bond on the big screen, beginning with ‘Dr. No’ in 1962. His career spanned six decades and included over 70 film appearances, earning him an Academy Award for ‘The Untouchables’ and roles in classics such as ‘Highlander’ and ‘The Name of the Rose’.

Before his acting success, Connery held various jobs, including working as a milkman, a coffin polisher, and a sailor, and he also served in the Royal Navy. He was knighted by the British Queen for his contributions to the dramatic arts.
