Sean Combs ordered to pay $478,000 in legal fees after failed NBC lawsuit

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been ordered by a New York judge to pay approximately $478,000 in legal fees to NBCUniversal, Peacock, and Ample Entertainment. The ruling follows the dismissal of Combs’ $100 million defamation lawsuit regarding the 2025 documentary “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy.”

Judge Phaedra F. Perry-Bond dismissed the suit under New York’s anti-SLAPP statute, ruling that the defendants adhered to journalistic standards and that Combs failed to establish sufficient reputational harm. While NBCUniversal initially sought nearly $990,000 in legal costs, the judge reduced the amount, finding that certain billed hours for internal meetings and preparations were excessive.

Separately, Combs’ prison release date at FCI Fort Dix has been adjusted to March 2, 2028. This change follows reports regarding his conduct while incarcerated, including allegations of possessing contraband cellphones and receiving special treatment from other inmates. Combs is currently serving a 50-month sentence for Mann Act convictions.
