Sean Duffy leads DOT modernization and launches new road trip series
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is overseeing several modernization and safety initiatives within the Department of Transportation. Key efforts include a $12.5 billion project to upgrade the Federal Aviation Administration’s aging air traffic control infrastructure, replacing outdated copper wiring with fiber, satellite, and wireless connections. Additionally, the department has seen a 20% increase in air traffic controller hiring, partly through recruitment campaigns targeting individuals with gaming backgrounds.
On the safety front, the administration is increasing oversight of commercial drivers to address issues related to unqualified and non-English-proficient operators.
Separately, Secretary Duffy and his family have launched a six-episode reality series titled ‘The Great American Road Trip.’ The program, which features visits to locations such as Philadelphia, Texas, and the Grand Canyon, aims to highlight American history, national parks, and civic lessons in celebration of the nation’s upcoming 250th birthday.
