Sean Hayes qualifies for Canada’s Strongest Man competition
Professional strongman Sean Hayes has qualified for the Canada’s Strongest Man competition in Quebec, scheduled for August 30. Hayes, a Comox Valley athlete, secured his spot after placing third at the Western Canada’s Strongest Man in Calgary and third at the Red Bull China’s Beijing Strongman Fest.
Hayes, who holds the world record for the silver dollar deadlift at 1,235 pounds, is returning to elite competition following a series of significant injuries since 2023, including multiple surgeries on his biceps, pec, and knees. He earned the Fan’s Choice Award at both his recent competitions in Calgary and Beijing.
