Sean Lennon clarifies John Lennon inheritance distribution

Sean Ono Lennon has addressed long-standing rumors regarding the distribution of his father John Lennon’s estate. In a statement made on social media, Sean clarified that he and his half-brother, Julian Lennon, received equal shares of the inheritance.

Addressing speculation that Julian was financially disadvantaged following John Lennon’s death in 1980, Sean noted that while Julian’s trust fund was slightly larger, the difference was insignificant. This clarification follows decades of public discussion and claims that Julian, the son from John’s first marriage, had to fight for his portion of the assets.

Following John Lennon's passing, Yoko Ono managed the estate, which includes music copyrights, real estate, and investments. While Julian Lennon previously engaged in a lengthy legal process to secure his share, which concluded in 1996, Sean emphasized that the brothers have maintained a close relationship, describing Julian as a hero who taught him how to play the guitar.
