Sean McVay discusses mental toll of coaching Rams

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has opened up about the mental toll of coaching, describing himself as ‘tormented’ despite the team entering the 2026 NFL season as a Super Bowl favorite.

McVay, who won Super Bowl LVI in 2022, reflected on how his identity became deeply tied to winning and losing. He noted that his previous joy following the championship was fleeting and admitted that his self-worth was once heavily dependent on game outcomes, which revealed personal insecurities.

He also discussed previously considering a transition into broadcasting to escape the pressures of coaching, a move he discussed with his wife before deciding to continue his career with the Rams.
